ANIMAL CRUELTY- MOHAVE VALLEY
Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrested Harold Gene Smith, 56 of Mohave Valley, for felony Animal Cruelty. On Thursday (3/13) at approximately 2:09 PM, Deputies responded to a livestock call of an injured animal. The reporting party advised they had located a large pig with severe, obvious injuries to its back. Deputies observed the pig to have four deep lacerations and the animal was obviously suffering and having trouble breathing, so the decision was made to humanely euthanize the pig.
Deputies made contact with a witness, who claimed they observed a male subject, identified as Smith, strike the pig with a machete the day prior. Deputies made contact with Smith, who admitted to striking the pig with the machete. Harold Smith was placed into custody and booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility in Kingman without incident.

A person who would do this to an animal under it's control would do it to a person.

in my world, it behoves society to do it to him first.

Thanks to the compassionate deputies that responded and humanely euthanized the suffering animal victim. Equally grateful to the Mohave County Sheriff's Office for booking this despicable individual with a felony. Despite their amazing work, if I am reading the court file accurately, on 3/17/25, the charge was dismissed on motion/request of Prosecutor. Someone please tell me I am mistaken...
